Kazakhstan is a democratic, secular, constitutional unitary republic. Kazakhstan is a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Economic Cooperation Organization and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Kazakhstan is the richest country in Central Asia, due to its large oil and natural gas reserves.

Capital: Nursultan previously named Astana

Major cities: include Nursultan, Almaty, Karaganda, ShymkentAtyrau, and Oskemen

In many universities the professional courses are in fully English medium to attract more foreign students.

Geographic Location

Kazakhstan is the world's ninth biggest country by size and is a transcontinental countrylargely located in Central Asia with the most western parts of it being located in Europe.

It is the largest landlocked country which shares borders with RussiaChina, and the Central Asian countries of  Turkmenistan. KyrgyzstanUzbekistan and also adjoins a large part of the Caspian Sea.

 

Known for

A series of mountain ranges of various sizes – such as the Tien Shan, Altay, Ulytau, and skiing or trekking in the mountains, including ecotourism and birdwatching in national parks and protected areas, water sports, sunbathing, and swimming in the many lakes and rivers of Kazakhstan -are naturally beautiful and attract tourists from all over the world.

Aksu Zhabagly Nature Reserve, which is home to snow leopards and other rare animals, and is also known as the "Kingdom of Tulips" is the most famous among tourists. Kazakhstan's coastline along the largest lake in the world, the Caspian Sea, is perfect for sunbathing, swimming and many water sports.
